Preserving the Glamour: Event Hairstyle Care
A breathtaking hairstyle or elegantly wrapped gele is the crowning glory of an event look. However, between weather conditions, dancing, and the natural passage of time, maintaining that initial perfection requires a bit of strategy. Whether you've opted for cascading waves, a sleek updo, or a structured headwrap, these practices will ensure your look endures. Setting the Foundation The longevity of any style begins during the creation process. As an artist, I utilize a variety of holding sprays, texturizing products, and strategic pinning techniques designed for endurance. However, you can assist this process by arriving with clean, entirely dry hair unless instructed otherwise. Day-old hair often holds styles better, but it must be free of heavy, oily products. Navigating the Elements Humidity, wind, and heat are the natural adversaries of event hair. If your event includes outdoor portions, consider a style that works with the elements rather than against them. An elegant, secure updo or a structured gele will withstand a breeze far better than loose, Hollywood waves. Keep hands out of your hair: The natural oils and friction from your fingers will break down products and introduce frizz. Carry an emergency kit: A travel-sized flexible hold hairspray, a few bobby pins, and a smoothing serum can save a look mid-event. Mind your posture: When wearing structured headpieces or elaborate updos, conscious posture prevents the style from shifting or loosening. The Graceful Takedown After the event, the removal process is just as important to the health of your hair. Do not forcefully brush out heavily hair-sprayed styles. Instead, gently remove all pins first. Apply a detangling spray or a lightweight oil to your hands and gently work it through the ends, slowly moving upward before attempting to brush or wash. A truly masterful style shouldn't feel precarious. It should grant you the freedom to celebrate without hesitation.
